What areas do you serve?
The practice is based in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. Most of our work is in Wiltshire and surrounding counties including Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Warwickshire. We have also carried out projects in Yorkshire and advised on development in Cornwall.
What types of architectural work do you specialise in?
We specialise in ecclesiastical conservation, including quinquennial inspections for Church of England churches. We also undertake new builds, house extensions, and building conversions. Past projects range from Lord Bath's apartment at Longleat and conservation works at the Royal Crescent to private houses, schools and shops.
What professional accreditations does the practice hold?
Raymond Winrow holds a Diploma in Architecture from Leeds, a Diploma in Town Planning, and is a member of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), registered with ARB (Architects Registration Board), and accredited by the AABC (Architects Accredited in Building Conservation) and EASA (Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association).
Do you work on listed buildings and conservation projects?
Yes. Conservation work is a core part of the practice. We are AABC accredited, which is the recognised standard for architects working on historic and listed buildings. We regularly work with Conservation Officers and have experience with Grade I and Grade II listed structures across Wiltshire and Bath.
How many churches do you inspect?
Raymond Winrow is the inspecting architect for twenty-seven churches. Each Church of England church should be inspected every five years so that the structure can be kept in good repair. These quinquennial inspections identify maintenance needs and help churches plan conservation work.
